Vaniqa Information

Important Note:
The following information is intended to supplement, not substitute for, the expertise and judgment of your physician, pharmacist or other healthcare professional. It should not be construed to indicate that use of the drug is safe, appropriate, or effective for you. Consult your healthcare professional before using this drug.

Vaniqa Uses:

Unwanted facial hair grows more slowly when you use Vaniqa ("VAN-i-ka"). This is achieved by the medication's interference with an enzyme in the hair follicle that is required for hair growth. Vaniqa will not completely stop hair from growing, and it will not remove hair that has already appeared.
You will find it necessary to continue using whatever hair removal program you are currently using. Vaniqa, however, will make your problem with unwanted facial hair more manageable.

How to Use Vaniqa:

Gently rub a small amount of Vaniqa into the skin in areas where you have unwanted hair, and do not wash the area for at least four hours after application. Follow the medication instructions carefully.
Vaniqa is used two times per day, at least eight hours apart. Follow your doctor's instructions. Vaniqa is for external treatments only.
Until Vaniqa takes full effect, you should continue your normal hair removal routine. After it begins working, you will notice you spend less time in hair removal, and have to do it less often.
It's okay to continue using your regular cosmetics while treating your skin with Vaniqa. However, you should allow a lot of time for the medication to be fully absorbed before applying any cosmetics over it.

Vaniqa Side Effects:

New users of Vaniqa sometimes have mild skin irritation, stinging or burning after applying the medication. If these symptoms do not fade after several weeks, discontinue the treatments and call your doctor. The skin of the eyes, mouth, and nose is very sensitive, so wash with clear water if you get Vaniqa on them.

Vaniqa Precautions:

Women of all ages and with all skin types can use Vaniqa to help treat their areas of unwanted facial hair. It can be applied to limit hair growth around the lips and under the chin. If you have had reactions to any of the ingredients in Vaniqa, tell your dermatologist. The ingredients include ceteareth-20, cetearyl alcohol, dimethicone, glyceryl stearate, methylparaben, mineral oil, PEG-bO stearate, phenoxyethanol, propylparaben, stearyl alcohol and water. Those under 12 are not advised to use Vaniqa.
Talk to your physician about using Vaniqa if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. There are no studies on using Vaniqa during pregnancy, so it's safety is now known.
Vaniqa is not tested for use during breastfeeding, and it's not known if the medication is passed in breast milk. Talk to your doctor if you are breastfeeding.

Vaniqa Drug Interactions:

Vaniqa has no known drug interactions. Your doctor should know about all medication and over the counter treatments you use, and all skin products you are using.

Allegra Notes:

Prescription Vaniqa is the only medication that scientific studies have shown is effective in limited the growth of unwanted facial hair. Vaniqa cream will not remove your facial hair and it won't prevent new hair from appearing. It does slow its growth, so over time you will be able to spend less time in hair removal.
The improvements associated with Vaniqa will occur gradually. Be patient. Within four to eight weeks you will be able to see small improvements. Some women will have to wait longer.
If six months of regular Vaniqa treatments have produced no noticeable difference in your facial hair, discontinue Vaniqa use. Your facial hair should return to normal within eight weeks.
Make sure Vaniqa is stored out of reach of children. Don't allows others to use your medication.

Missed Dose of Vaniqa:

Do not try to make up missed Vaniqa treatments. Return to your usual schedule as soon as possible.

Allegra Storage:

Store Vaniqa at room temperature, which is 59-86 degrees (15-30 C). Do not allow it to freeze.
